During term time, Shetland Youth Theatre meets weekly, and stages intensive productions.

Our vibrant and exciting Shetland Youth Theatre Company (12-19 years) have enjoyed success locally and nationally, being chosen out of 150 Youth Theatre groups to represent their production for the National Theatre Festival in 2021 and participating in National Theatre Connections in Salford, Manchester, in 2022.

Director Stephenie Georgia is known locally for her work with Islesburgh Drama Group and more widely for her innovative social practice based work, such as 'Fragmented' and 'Pollyanna Paradox' in partnership with Shetland Women's Aid and the Compass Centre.

The group meets to develop and refine acting skills, allowing for progression and development - participants can gain an understanding of theatre practice as well as developing a range of appropriate skills in voice, movement, acting, acting for camera and stagecraft. They also get an opportunity to be part of the creative process with performances and projects from local and visiting Directors throughout the year.

These sessions are always open to new members - this is a very welcoming and inclusive group, so if you've ever thought about trying theatre, please come and join in!

This course follows SQA framework ensuring transferable skills that can prepare young actors for a career in the performing arts industries.

Please get in touch with us at [email protected] if you would like to know more about joining the company.
