We hope to open reopen Bonhoga Gallery with this exhibition on Saturday 23 Janauary 2021.
As part of the prize for 2019’s Shetland Open exhibition the winners were offered the opportunity to work towards a group show at Bonhoga Gallery, supported by Shetland Arts. The artists discussed connections between their work and themes that resonate beyond it: traditional skills, preservation and treasure and treasured. The exhibition was originally planned for 2020 but was delayed due to Covid.
The Shetland Open exhibition takes place every two years with an exhibition of work by prize winners in the intervening year. Each sponsored £150 award was matched by a further £150 from Shetland Arts to fund the group show. Our generous sponsors were A9 Partnership Ltd, Ninian, John Goudie, Shetland Gallery and Shetland Arts and Crafts Association.
The exhibition and Bonhoga's cafe and shop will be open on Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm. We hope to open the exhibition on Saturday 23 January 2021 (depending on Shetland's status within the tiering system) and close on Sunday 14 March 2021.
We'll be running bookable timeslots of 20 minutes, in each 30 minutes, which will be available in the new year.
