What is "Soup and a Show"?
The idea behind the "Soup and a Show’" style is that it features a short, 40-minute performance that can take place during your lunch hour. We're aiming for these to always be on Thursdays, and they’ll follow the schedule of:
► 12:45pm: Doors open and soup is served;
► 1pm: Performance Starts;
► 1:40pm Performance finishes;
► 2pm: Auditorium closes.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for readymade works and the performance can be of any art form, such as: music, comedy, visual art, craft, dance, drama, new media, film.
This call-out is not a commission for new work, but you are welcome to apply with a concept you plan to develop specifically for this programme. If you choose to submit an idea rather than an existing piece, please demonstrate that you have the experience and skills to deliver it to a high standard. Be as clear and specific as possible in your application about what you intend to create, why, and how you will bring it to life.
If applying with a completed or ready-made show, please keep in mind that we need to programme work with strong audience potential. If your piece has already been presented in Shetland several times, we will need reassurance that it can still attract audiences - this might include positioning it during the tourist season or identifying new audiences the work could reach.
Artist Fee
You will recieve a total fee of £500, which will be inclusive of any rehearsals and all costs, and you will recieve a Box Office Split of 50/50.
Tickets will be priced at £12 (£13.20 including our 10% booking fee) which will be inclusive of performance and soup.
Support
Shetland Arts will provide marketing and technical support for the show.
