Expressions of Interest (EOI) are invited from female artists to lead a community workshop programme culminating in the production of a banner for the “Processions” event, “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in a mass participation artwork to celebrate one hundred years of votes for women.”
Commissioned by 14-18 NOW, produced by Artichoke and based on an idea by creative director Darrell Vydelingum, Processions will take place simultaneously in London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff on 10th June 2018.
For more information on Processions visit www.processions.co.uk
The Lead Artist will be expected to hold 8 community workshops through which the banner will be designed and produced. The Lead Artist will accompany two workshop participants to Edinburgh to take part in event.
The banner must “represent the lives, ideas, hopes and concerns of women today”, incorporate shades of green, white and violet on a very dark background and incorporate a processions logo in a corner.
A fee of £980 is offered. A budget for travel and accommodation in Edinburgh, materials and mileage is also provided in addition to the fee.
The EOI of up to 500 words must outline how the Lead Artist will identify and engage with community groups and/or members of the public, and the process through which the banner will be designed and produced.
The deadline for EOI submission is Monday 12th February and shortlisted applicants will be interviewed on Wednesday 14th February.
