Twelfth Day are set to bring their genre-bending music to Mareel on Wednesday 29 September at 7.30pm.

Combining the talents of musicians Catriona Price and Esther Swift, the duo blend chamber music, folk music, jazz-funk and electronica. Through their folk roots and classical training, the duo experiment with violin, harp and vocals to challenge both themselves and the listener. Layering vocal harmonies and strings, the music of Twelfth Day draws comparisons with the atmospheric and ambient music with the likes of Hannah Peel, Lisa Knapp and Bjork.

Their latest album, Face To Face (2019) was nominated in the ‘Innovation in New Traditional Music’ category in the 2020 Scottish Awards for New Music. It picks up where Cracks In The Room (2017) left off, continuing to confront societal conventions by exploring a wealth of urgent current issues, such as gender roles, power balance and the challenges of working in the arts as a young woman; the threat of climate change and society’s reluctance to act; and the struggles of mental health.

Tickets for Twelfth Day are on sale here, and available in person at Mareel or over the phone on 01595 745700 (Wed – Sun 10am – 10pm). The gig will run in accordance with COVID guidelines in place during September.
