On Thursday 1 August the Scottish Ensemble is going Out & About in Shetland to deliver coaching sessions and short performances with local musicians.

Local string players are welcomed to sign up now to get to work with members of the UK's only professional string orchestra. Players with a range of abilities can take part, but you do need a little experience of reading music, around grade 4. The Scottish Ensemble musicians will be on hand to help.

The coaching sessions will take place at:

Busta House (Brae)Carnegie Hall (Sandwick)Mareel (Lerwick)

And will run from 4-6pm. They will be followed by a short performance, open to the public to attend and free, from 6pm.

The coaching sessions will also involve preparation for a 'performance in a secret location' on Friday 2 August at 6pm (rehearsal at 5pm). Only those who take part in the Thursday coaching sessions will get the chance to find out more!

FREE to take part. If you want to take part, please contact Shetland Arts before 5pm on Monday 29 July:01595 743 843 or [email protected]
