Shetland Arts announced the lifting of social distancing measures in their venues in line with government guidance from Wednesday 11 August.

One-way systems will be removed from Mareel and Bonhoga, seating for events and films will return to normal, with no social distancing, and booking will no longer be necessary to visit exhibitions. The weekly ‘relaxed’ screenings will continue with social distancing, to help more vulnerable members of the community feel comfortable returning to the cinema. Café table booking will no longer be required, although tables can still be reserved by phoning the venues. Enhanced cleaning and the requirement for face coverings will be remain in place and although social distancing requirements have been removed, customers are requested to be mindful of each other when in the venues.

Shetland Arts are also planning to announce this years’ Wordplay and Screenplay programmes on Wednesday 11 August, with Screencards, Wordcards and festival cards on sale from Friday 6 August. The organisation is looking forward to a busy autumn programme.

Events and films can be booked online at shetlandarts.org or by phoning 01595 745500 during Mareel opening hours (Wed – Sun 10am – 10pm) and café tables can be reserved by phoning Mareel on the number above, or Bonhoga Gallery on 01595 745750 (Wed – Sun 10.30am - 4.30pm).
