Shetland Arts are pleased to announce a partnership with Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd which sees them taking over the retail space in the terminal as a pop-up outlet this summer and using it to celebrate the creativity of Shetland.

Showcasing the work of some of Shetland’s most popular and talented contemporary craft practitioners, inspired by the ShetlandMade exhibitions at Bonhoga Gallery, alongside products from The Shetland Times Bookshop and The Shetland Soap Company. The space will also be used as a box office for Shetland Arts events, enabling tourists and those who live in the south mainland to book and collect tickets locally.

This retail outlet, and the ShetlandMade showcases at Bonhoga, provide a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with craft at a closer level, and discover what it is that inspire local designers and makers to create their amazing pieces. All work featured will be for sale, providing a unique opportunity for both visitors and locals alike to support Shetland makers and purchase from a large and diverse collection of local, high quality, contemporary applied art and craft. This will include work from local jewellers such as Esme Wilcock and Jayne Kelly, textiles from Joanna Hunter, Margaret Hamilton and Nielanell, woodwork from Paparwark, ceramics from The Pottery, North Roe, glassware from Glansin Glass and a selection of prints from Ruth Brownlee, with prints and cards from other artists.

We are looking for recruit Front of House Supervisors (Full/Part-time) for this outlet - if you would like to work for us at Sumburgh airport the full details are here - https://www.shetlandarts.org/get-involved/vacancies

This is a great opportunity to build on our ShetlandMade exhibitions, further supporting local artists and makers and celebrating the thriving arts scene here in Shetland
