Shetland Arts is looking forward to the commencement of the Shetland Noir festival, which is fast approaching. The festival will run for four days from Thursday 15 – Sunday 18 June, curated by Ann Cleeves with support from Marsali Taylor and featuring a fantastic line-up of headline guests.

The programme includes a number of talks from headline guests including Val McDermid, Richard Osman, Elly Griffiths, Martin Edwards, Dr James Grieve, Shona MacLean and Carole Johnston. Carole Johnston was awarded the Shetland Noir Bursary to attend the festival, an award supported by Ann Cleeves for a writer who is already getting into their stride, working at their craft and improving with every novel.

Also joining the festival are panel guests on various topics of Noir literature, including Sense of Place and Groundtruthing, and Old Bones with Regional Archaeologist Val Turner, as well as local talks from Iain Souter and Brian Smith on ‘Real Shetland Noir’.

The full Shetland Noir programme can be viewed online here. Shetland Arts also advises that Mareel will be closed to the general public during the festival, and only Noir Card or headliner event ticketholders will be allowed entry.

Richard Osman's headliner event and day passes for Saturday (17 June) have now sold out, but we have availability on other passes and events!

Remaining tickets for Shetland Noir events are available to purchase online here.
