AFTER ALL by Solène Weinachter
AFTER ALL is a show about death. It is a celebration of our vulnerable and courageous existence using dance, theatre, storytelling and comedy to ask: how do we deal with the end?
By exploring various funeral rites - ones we have, ones we have lost, and those yet to be invented - choreographer Solène Weinachter confronts our transition between worlds head-on. AFTER ALL is a hopeful attempt to conjure a better sort of space for us to be with loss and collectively contemplate the finite nature of our lives.
Beyond AFTER ALL - space to speak about death together.
This is facilitated time for group conversation to share any experiences, feelings or questions around death. It can host up to 20 participants, who are welcome to discuss any aspects of death and dying that they wish to.
People are welcome to just come and listen with no pressure to speak, and it is open to anyone regardless of whether you have attended the show AFTER ALL or not. There will be some time afterwards to drink tea together, and for any further conversation if desired.
A Journey of Flight is a critically acclaimed, immersive 50-minute dance performance, created in Shetland, inspired by the migration of birds. Through mesmerising choreography, live music from Jenny Sturgeon, and stunning projected visuals, the show creates a thought-provoking journey of arrivals, departures, the nostalgia of place and the notion of flight itself.
Against a backdrop of flowing white sheets, the dancers move through ever-changing spaces, exploring new states of being and new homes. This visually stunning piece invites audiences to reflect on the delicate balance between nature, movement and our emotional ties to place and each other. A Journey of Flight offers a visually captivating and thought-provoking experience that invites you to reflect, engage and be inspired.
The show was developed in Shetland and has toured Scotland in 2025, with dates in Dumfries and Galloway, Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh (as part of the Made in Scotland showcase at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe) and then its final performance here at Mareel.
