Joanna Martin trained at Edinburgh College of Art in Book Illustration and Graphic Design. She worked as a graphic designer in both London and Belfast and now runs her own business from Killyleagh on the shores of Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland, which is the largest sea inlet in the British Isles. Her stunning surroundings provide the inspiration for her work; she spends much of her time exploring the coastline by boat and experiencing nature first hand.

Joanna’s passion for birds is expressed beautifully in her seabird lino cuts. Her printmaking takes place at the Seacourt Print Workshop in Bangor. Linocuts are handmade prints created by cutting a design into a piece of linoleum or Japanese vinyl to produce a relief surface that can then be rolled up with ink and printed from. Cutting and printing the lino again means colours can be built up on top of another.

As well as a selection of Joanna's prints, we have her full range of greeting cards in the gallery shop at Bonhoga.
