Originally from Aberdeenshire and now based in Shetland, artist Jenny Sturgeon founded her business Ink and Wool in 2017. It is an environmentally aware art and design brand inspired by nature, and now Shetland. She uses only eco-friendly materials in her work, including biodegradable cellophane packaging and recycled card.

Jenny’s other passion is music, playing in a number of bands including alt-folk band Salt House, as well as her own trio with fellow bandmembers Jonny Hardie and Charlie McKerron. Having also worked as an ecologist, nature informs much of her creative pursuits.

We are delighted to showcase her new collection of original linocut prints at Bonhoga featuring popular Scottish birds, and to compliment this collection Jenny has produced a range of digitally printed greetings cards, which are ‘flying’ out the door!

The launch of this collection also coincides with Northern Flyway at Mareel, a performance co-created and performed by Jenny, exploring the ecology, folklore, symbolism and mythology of birds and birdsong.
