Shetland born painter Ellie Mulhern trained as a classical singer. The focus of her creativity had always been music, before turning back to painting, which she had always shown a talent for but had not pursued. She now paints professionally from her studio in Aberdeen and her work is exhibited in several galleries throughout Scotland.

Growing up in Shetland, with its dramatic skies and landscapes, provided Ellie constant inspiration for her work. She continues to express her love of the natural world painting dramatic coastlines and skies, currently with a particular focus on the Aurora.

She is self-taught and paints mostly using oils, capturing fine detail to present realistic images. Her technique is constantly evolving and she has developed her own unique style.

The popularity of her Aurora paintings has resulted in a collection of limited edition signed prints, which we are delighted to have for sale at Bonhoga Gallery.
