The commissioned artists have all made their first visits to Shetland to discuss locations, meet stakeholders, make connections with local industry and carry out research into the elements of Shetland's past, present and future that will inform their work.

It's been fascinating to be part of, to see so many conversations, stories and threads fold into four separate design processes, by such specialists in the field of public art.

We're also delighted to benefit from additional support via the Creative Learning Network to enable Civic Soup to deliver workshops in schools across Shetland over the coming fortnight. Creative Learning Networks are local authority-led initiatives devised to help develop creative teaching, creative learning and creativity skills across all subjects in the classroom. Civic Soup will be working with pupils from P5 to S3 to help create the resource material for their work, in line with their practice of social engagement. Watch this space to see what they get up to in their workshops...

LOCUS is a contemporary art trail being devised around the centre of Lerwick by Living Lerwick in partnership with Shetland Arts.
