Shetland Arts is calling out for your short films to show at this year's festival!

Once more, local film makers will be the stars of the show as the Home Made screening is always one of the most popular festival events.

Screenplay Director Kathy Hubbard said “The Home Made screening is a much anticipated event by the curators as well as the audience. As usual we are looking for films no longer than four minutes, in any genre, made by makers of all abilities and ages, the main stipulation being that you must be a Shetlander by birth, residence, or in higher education.  The films must be suitable for a general audience, and there will be a selection process. If last year’s varied programme of twenty-six films is anything to go by, we are all in for a cinematic treat.”

There is always a vote for the audience’s favourite film, last year’s winner being Alex Garrick-Wright with his hilarious comedy Suncaller. Rumour has it that there may be an actual prize this year, as opposed to simply the glory...

As with previous years, Shetland ForWirds will be donating a cash prize for the best film in Shetland Dialect, which was won last year from a strong field by Amy Gear with her sublime animation Honds Reach Up.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 31st July at 5pm.

For information on how to enter, you can contact Kathy on 0787 672 7059 or email her at [email protected], or you can download the information from https://www.shetlandarts.org/our-work/festivals/screenplay.
