Shetland Arts is currently advertising four great opportunities for artists and creative practitioners in Shetland.

Created Space is an ongoing garden design project at Arheim, Quoys involving a partnership between Shetland Arts, Independent Living Project and Hjaltland Housing Association. The garden has been designed by Independent Living Project tenants working alongside two professional artists over the last year. It is in the final stages of completion and there are two commissions available for local artists, designers or makers. Please download commission briefs under Opportunities.

Power of Place: Shetland’s Year of Architecture 2010 is also a long term project involving Shetland Arts, Shetland Islands Council and Shetland Architectural Society. The project is part of a national Scottish Executive funded initiative ‘Access to Architecture’. We are looking for creative practitioners to submit proposals/ ideas for workshops and projects connected to architecture and place-making in 2010. Visual Artist Awards – Shetland Arts in partnership with Scottish Arts Council is part of a national award scheme for visual artists and was piloted in Shetland during 2008 - 2009. Shetland Arts is pleased to announce that the scheme will continue for 2009 - 2010. Awards are available for the creative and professional development of Shetland based visual artists.
