Shetland Arts & Atlantic Edge Music Services are delighted to welcome  world class jazz and flamenco guitarist, Eduardo Niebla to Shetland for a series of schools workshops and two performances. Hailed by The Guardian for his "exquisite" guitar playing, Eduardo Niebla is joined for his visit by guitarist Matthew Robinson to present an amazing repertoire of "stunning flamenco jazz" (The Sound) from his latest albums. Continually seeking out new musical terrain, Niebla has traversed the genres of pop, jazz, folk and world music, collaborating with such diverse partners as sitar maestro Nishat Khan, George Michael, Lol Coxhill, the Dante String Quartet and Craig David.

Niebla & Robinson will lead two concerts, the first in the Hillswick Hall on Tuesday 4th Feb and the second at Mareel, on Wednesday 5th Feb. At both concerts, they will be joined by local artists to perform a special collection of his compositions inspired by the landscape. In Hillswick, local guitar maestros, father and son, Brian and Arthur Nicholson will join them. Both well known locally as greatly talented guitarists through their work with various bands, Arthur has recently released his solo album and was the winner last week of a prestigious ‘Danny Award’ at Celtic Connections in Glasgow. For the Hillswick concert only, the night will be rounded off by a session from the Northmavine Fiddle & Accordion Club. Tickets are price £12/8, available at Shetland Box Office or on the door.

On Wednesday evening, they will perform in Mareel, again with Brian & Arthur Nicholson and also joined by Eunice Henderson & The South Mainland Young Fiddlers. Tickets are priced £16/£12, available at Shetland Box Office or on the door.

Each of the shows guarantee a spellbinding evening of passion, verve and fleet-fingered virtuosity from one of the most potent forces in flamenco jazz fusion, in collaboration with some fantastic local musicians.
