Opening this weekend! An exciting new exhibition in the Mareel foyer, produced by the children who have been working with artist Jane Cockayne in the latest Creativity Club Craft sessions.

The exhibition features work they produced inspired by the natural materials of Shetland, including a magical ‘Wishing Tree’ with painted and decorated branches. Each branch will give you a different wish if you stand under it and the wind blows in the right direction!

Shetland Arts runs blocks of Saturday workshops for 7 - 11 year olds, encouraging creativity and learning across many different artforms. Participants on the latest sessions - Creativity Club Craft - collected natural materials from around Shetland: stones, branches, shells, fleece, pine cones and feathers, and had lots of creative ideas of what to make with them. The young artists have made sculpted figures, objects and stone pictures, each telling a different story.

Keep an eye out for the next block of Creativity Club sessions!
