We love cinema, and we know you do too.

This year the British Independent Film Awards has launched the Cinema of the Year award, supported by Kia and we’ve thrown our hat in the ring for it.

There’s nothing quite like the communal experience of watching a film on the big screen and we enjoy nothing more than bringing people together to enjoy independent film.

We might be small and a long way from the rest of the UK, but cinema matters everywhere. From rainy-day family trips to the chance to see the very latest releases and independent films you’d never find on streaming, the big screen brings people together here in Shetland. Being able to support small Scottish distributors and film makers to share their films with our community is something we’re really proud of. Being shortlisted would mean so much to us.

The award is voted for by you, the audience, so please vote for us to be nominated at http://bifa.film/coty-vote/mareel - the first round of voting runs from now until Monday 22 September – it takes a few minutes and your support would mean so much, thank you!
