SHETLAND Arts presents the Summer Showcases at Bonhoga - four exciting exhibitions of contemporary craft made in Shetland and further afield. Running from the 19th May – 1st October, the exhibitions feature ceramics, jewellery, papercuts, woodwork, textiles, glass and basketry.

The first exhibition runs from the 19th May - 18th June and includes: Aamos Designs; The Pottery, North Roe; Lois Walpole and Karlin Anderson. Browse and buy beautiful items, including; homeware, textiles and jewellery.

"There are interesting Shetland connections through all the craftmakers' work in the first group of the Summer Showcases. Karlin Anderson's Oppenwark collection draws inspiration from Shetland lace, which is also a big influence on Sharon McGeady's (The Pottery, North Roe) ceramics. Sharon explores the historical use of materials in Shetland and incorporates dried grasses through her ceramics. Lois Walpole is using traditional basketry techniques with unexpected materials like plastic and other found materials from Shetland beaches. Emma Geddes’ (Aamos Designs) weaving patterns are inspired by traditional Fair Isle knitting." - Ruth Oliver - Creative Project Programmer - Curated Retail & Exhibitions.

The exhibition can be viewed during Bonhoga Gallery opening hours of 10:30 - 4:30, Wednesday – Sunday.
