Calling for Craft again but this time from all the young creatives in Shetland. The Bairns' Open runs every year in the Lower Gallery at Bonhoga and this September, matching the Open in the main gallery, it's all about craft...

The Bairns' Open Competition is open to all school age children and young adults in Shetland, from P1-S6.

This year the focus is CRAFT and we are looking for all kinds of handmade craft, eg, textile pieces including knitting, weave, felt; sculpture including wood, ceramic, textiles, metal work; mosaic as well as jewellery. The piece must be no larger than A3, and 3D equivalent of A3.

Three prizes are awarded and work will be displayed in the craft cabinets at Bonhoga from 21 Sep – 3 Nov. Deadline for entries is 7 September, with work submitted to Bonhoga or Mareel.

Only one entry will be accepted per person and it must be clearly labelled with name, age and contact details.

After the exhibition work may be collected from Bonhoga, or Mareel by arrangement with Bonhoga. We cannot store work for long periods so uncollected work may be disposed of after 22nd Dec.
