There are only three weeks of normal film screenings in August before this year's edition of the wonderful Screenplay kicks off on the 24th, but we've managed to cram in lots of great cinema to keep the whole family entertained!

Packed with love, laughter and sunshine, not to mention super-catchy ABBA songs, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again continues til 9 August, as does hilarious animated adventure Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation.

We've superheroes for all ages, with Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the return, by popular demand, of Avengers: Infinity War – plus a super hero of a different kind in Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! The Movie!

Tom Cruise is back doing what Tom Cruise does best, in the spectacular Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and if that's not enough action for you check out grungy crime thriller Hotel Artemis, or gritty boxing drama A Prayer Before Dawn.

We mark the centenary of the RAF with the wonderfully cinematic and moving documentary Spitfire, celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of The Beatles' glorious animated odyssey Yellow Submarine, and fans of the inimitable André Rieu are in for a treat, with a cinema one screening of his 2018 Maastricht Concert: Amore, My Tribute to Love.

One of our favourite guests at last year's Screenplay, the very lovely George MacKay, stars in chilling haunted house tale The Secret of Marrowbone, and our Alfred Hitchcock season continues with Cary Grant in North By Northwest and James Stewart in Vertigo, both screening in new digital restorations.

Filling our Screen Horizons slots are L'Amant Double, an erotic thriller from France; First Reformed, Paul Schrader's compelling drama about a conflicted minister; and Summer 1993, a charming autobiographical coming-of-age story from Spain, and there's a hugely enjoyable look at the arts scene in late 1970s New York City, in Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Find full details of all of these and more here – we hope to see you soon!
