Children and The Arts
Children & the Arts, a national educational charity committed to ensuring that all children in the UK are inspired by the arts. Over the past 9 years, Start has enabled 95 arts organisations to work with 120,192 young people.
Through the Start Programme, Children & the Arts provides funding and support to build long-lasting relationships between arts venues and their local schools. At the heart of the Start Programme is the desire to make cultural venues accessible for a new generation.
Start projects work within the following broad framework to engage young people with all aspects of the arts:
Introducing young people to the arts;
Inspiring them to learn more;
Enhancing their experience through critical analysis and participation; and
Encouraging them to create their own art.
Children & the Arts supports Start projects for up to three years and helps them to become sustainable after this period.
