Volunteers wanted to play crowd extras in BBC drama ‘Shetland’
Posted by Lisa Ward on June 22nd, 2012 1 CommentNew BBC crime drama Shetland is looking for volunteers who would like be unpaid crowd extras in a recreation of Up Helly Aa on Sunday 8 July.
Shetland stars Douglas Henshall of Primeval fame and is based on the Shetland Quartet crime novels by Ann Cleeves.
The drama features Up Helly Aa as a backdrop to a thrilling cat and mouse chase between detectives and suspects. With the assistance of the UHA Committee and the Guizar Jarl, there will be a recreation of the proclamation at the Market Cross, the march through Fort Charlotte, and the lighting of the torches at Lower Hillhead.
Volunteers are required throughout the day from 3pm – 2am. People of all ages are welcome, but those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone over the age of 18.
If you’re interested in taking part and available for all, or part, of the day please contact: shetlandextras@gmail.com

I would be very interested in volunteering as an extra or whatever capacity for the BBC Drama ‘Shetland. I discussed this previously with Mr. John Haswell on the phone. I look forward to hearing from you.
