During 2013, we amalgamated our two funding schemes for visual and craft artists. The Working Up Craft Maker Award scheme and the Visual Artist Awards no longer exist and in 2014-2015 we ran a newly merged scheme, called Visual Art and Craft Awards. The new Awards scheme is very similar to the previous two schemes, and was open to visual or craft artists based in Shetland at any stage of their creative career one year after graduating.
There is a formal application process for the Visual Art and Craft Award scheme. The emphasis is on projects and work that will further a practitioner’s creative, professional and economic development.
The deadlines for 2015-2016 applications to the Visual Art and Craft Award scheme are 5pm Monday 26th October 2015 & Monday 8th February 2016
If you are a visual or craft artist interested in applying for a Visual Art and Craft Award, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Floortje Robertson, Creative Projects Manager, to discuss your ideas and potential application.
The scheme is funded through Creative Scotland, Economic Development (Shetland Islands Council) and Shetland Arts. Since 2007, Shetland Arts’ Craft and Visual Artist Award schemes have awarded over £100,000 to Shetland artists and makers.
This funding scheme in Shetland is part of a national Creative Scotland award scheme. For more information about this scheme please click here
