Following the success of recent consultations on Theatre earlier this year, Shetland Arts is hosting a series of meetings to discuss the future priorities for the development of Visual Art and Craft in Shetland.

The first meeting will be held at the Garrison Theatre at 6pm – 7pm on Tuesday 14th July.  A second meeting will also be held in the North Isles at Global Yell 6-7pm on Thursday 16th July.  Anyone with an interest or opinion on the topic is welcome to attend.

Graeme Howell, General Manager of Shetland Arts, said ‘Previous discussions on the future of theatre in Shetland were very productive, and we are keen to continue to engage members of the public in this ongoing conversation about the delivery of arts development activities in Shetland.’

He added, ‘These meetings are the ideal opportunity for anyone with an interest in Visual Art & Craft, whether they be professional practitioners, enthusiastic amateurs or consumers to have their say about what they feel the priorities for its ongoing development should be.  This is a real chance to influence how Shetland Arts should be prioritising its investment and support’

As with the discussions on theatre, the meetings will be followed up by an online survey to gather further feedback, and ensure that all interested parties have an opportunity to have their say.

Further conversations about filmmaking, music, literature, contemporary and traditional arts are planned over the next twelve months
