Education: NC Music course

We are proud to be working in partnership with Shetland College to offer a full-time NC Music course to be delivered in Mareel.

This course is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of the UK music industry, music technology, music theory and performance skills covering a range of genres.

Students will record, edit and mix audio and MIDI, develop skills with an instrument or voice and work on live performances, including elements of event planning, promotion, setup and stagecraft.

Students will also learn about the music industry and the many career and employment opportunities available.

The course is underpinned with teaching of core skills units for transferable skills in future employment – theĀ  focus is on practice, hands on skills development and experience to equip students for work in the music industry or further study.

The course will make full use of Mareel – a working creative industries centre and situational learning environment featuring industry standard facilities, equipment and software packages including Pro Tools and Sibelius. Students will also be given the opportunity to gain the industry accredited Pro Tools 101 qualification.

The course will begin in September 2011. To apply, fill in and return the application form available in the downloads section of this page. For further information please download the Shetland College prospectus and/or visit the websites below.
