Comedian Mark Thomas will bring his new show Trespass to Mareel on 25th March.

Best known for his campaigning Channel 4 program The Mark Thomas Product, Thomas first rose to public attention through the BBC Radio 1 show The Mary Whitehouse Experience in the 1980s.  He has also performed as a regular member on comedy shows such as ‘Have I got News for You’ and Saturday Zoo. Essentially an observational comic with a political, anti-corporate bias, he has been describe by Chortle as ‘one of the few comics to still carry the political standard of alternative comedy’.

Winner of the Time Out comedy award in 1990, and nominated for the Perrier Award in 1992, Mark’s previous shows have included Belching Out the Devil, an expose of soft drinks giant Coca-Cola in which he travelled the globe seeking out the stories and people their iconic advertising campaigns don’t mention; BRAVO FIGARO! an award-winning account of his relationship with his opera-loving father, commissioned by the Royal Opera House, and 100 Acts of Dissent, an account of an entire year spent ‘living provocatively’ and carrying out acts of dissent which ranged from whimsical and surreal to acts of bold defiance.

Trespass carries on from where 100 Acts of Minor Dissent left off. It is his usual odd mix of theatre, stand up, activism, a dash of journalism and dollop of mayhem.  Mark asks the question: If the ramblers of the 1930's were here now what would they do to open up the cities? How do we turn the skyscrapers and corporate squares into our playgrounds? He sets out to try and carve a small space in the urban world where mischief and random chance can lurk.  No one knows where this show is going to end up.

Tickets are available now through Shetland Box Office online, at Mareel & Isleburgh or over the phone on 01595 745555
