On Wednesday 30th May Shetland Arts will be showing Drive at The Garrison Theatre as part of the Film Wednesday season. Film Wednesdays give an opportunity to see some of the best in contemporary independent cinema, and this hard-hitting drama is no exception. Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, it stars Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan, two of the most watchable and talented screen actors of their generation.

A mysterious man – The Driver (Ryan Gosling) - who has multiple jobs as a garage mechanic, aHollywoodstuntman and a getaway driver seems to be trying to escape his shady past as he falls for his neighbour (Carey Mulligan). Her husband is in prison and she is looking after her child alone. Meanwhile, his garage mechanic boss is trying to set up a race team using gangland money, which implicates The Driver as he is to be used as the race team's main man. Gosling's inscrutable character gets more than he bargained for when he meets the crook who is married to the woman he loves.

Drive carries an 18 certificate, and tickets can be obtained from Shetland Box Office on 01595 745555.
