Shetland Arts shows an interesting and innovative programme of local, national and international art, craft and new media all year round at Bonhoga Gallery. See our Exhibitions @ Bonhoga Page for latest exhibition details.
Ten exhibitions each year are shown in the main gallery which is the top floor of an old grain mill that was renovated to make a small but versatile gallery. Exhibitions shown are a combination of self generated and touring exhibitions. There is an annual Open non selected exhibition where one piece of work by artists who are Shetland by birth, education or residency will be hung. Exhibitions are backed by an Education Programme. To apply for an exhibition a proposal should be sent to the Curator.
The Stairwell Gallery shows short films and new media.
On occasion Shetland Arts uses spaces outwith these venues to show art exhibitions. In the past spaces such as the top floor of Sumburgh Airport and the entire length of Street, Lerwick have been used for exhibition.
As part of forward planning Shetland Arts intends to show more international work and to continue using non conventional spaces for exhibition display.
Shetland Arts is currently preparing and Exhibitions Policy. Should any artist or artist group wish further information they should contact the Curator.
