In this section you can find out more about the wide range of events we plan and deliver. For current events, visit our What’s on page.
As well as a year round program which includes exhibitions, concerts and educational activities, we organise four annual festivals: Fiddle Frenzy, the Shetland Guitar Festival, ScreenPlay and WordPlay.
We also administer several major arts projects such as A Hansel of Light, Creative Connections, Mirrie Dancers, and Power of Place.
Events and Venues Team
The majority of our events begin by fulfilling a development need: the method of delivery evolves from that process.
Once a project has reached the stage of going on tour, exhibition, hitting the stage and turning on the lights, the Arts Development Team turns to our dedicated Events and Venues Team which makes sure things run smoothly, so that the audience and visitors have the best possible experience at a Shetland Arts supported event or activity.
The Events and Venues Team delivers our arts activities to the highest possible standard for the maximum public accessibility and enjoyment. They take your tickets, look after your safety and comfort, light up the stage with technical wizardry. They put on the show!
The Events Team cover:
- Marketing and promotion
- Artists’ bookings, contracts, transport, flights and accommodation
- Events’ logistics, venues, transport, ticketing and customer care
- Technical support, light, sound and audio/visual back up
- Health and safety, policy, procedures, risk assessments and first aid
- PA hire – the system is used by Shetland Folk Festival, Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival, the Flavour of Shetland and numerous individual events
- Event staffing and rotas
- Budgeting advice and costings
