The countdown is underway for Screenplay 2015, Shetland Arts’ annual film festival curated by Kathy Hubbard, Linda Ruth Williams and Mark Kermode.

The festival is a ten day celebration of film, and includes a feast of film screenings, lectures and panel discussions involving national and international film industry professionals. With highlights such as rambunctious children’s film Fiddle Sticks , music documentary Pulp: A Film about Life Death and Supermarkets, and The Falling, a drama from up and coming British director Carol Morley, Kermode says that Screenplay 2015 is already shaping up to be ‘something really special’.  Audiences can also look forward to meeting Carole as well as visits from Candida Doyle from Pulp, whose mother was originally from Shetland, actress Lindsay Duncan and a cyber-visit from director Joshua Oppenheimer via skype.

As part of this year’s festival Shetland Arts have launched a new Screen Card membership scheme, allowing the holder unlimited access to films during the festival, as well as a chance to schmooze with festival guests at the exclusive Screenplay reception on Saturday 5th September.

Festival curator Kathy Hubbard says, ‘Once again there will be a lot of viewing to pack into ten days, kicking off with The Pirate, a silent film with live piano accompaniment by Philip Taylor, and I’m looking forward to seeing lots of pirates in the audience.  There will also be more Home Made productions this year, which are always hugely popular’

Screencard membership can be purchased from Shetland Box Office at Mareel & Isleburgh, online at www.shetlandboxoffice.org or over the phone on 01595 745000
