Mary Smith retires at 18 years

Today is Mary Smith’s last day with Shetland Arts, exactly 18 years to the day she started. Mary started with one of our predecessor organisations, Shetland Arts Trust at the beginning of October 1993 as the Visual Arts Coordinator.

Shetland Community Orchestra’s first concert on 1st October

The Shetland Community Orchestra will be performing their first concert on Saturday 1st October at St Columba’s Kirk in Lerwick. Following initial planning by a small steering committee, the Orchestra was officially launched earlier this year, aided by funding from Scotland’s Islands and Shetland Arts.

Blowup – dance workshops

As part of  ‘Blowup’ the forthcoming exhibition at the Bonhoga Gallery Shetland Arts is offering the opportunity for adults to take part in dance workshops.
‘Blowup’ is an interactive performance environment designed for choreographed performances and public interaction.  The work consists of two large video projections in which video imagery of the performers or viewers

Listen with Others this Saturday 24th

Mami Shikimori and Masayuki Kino recital on Thurs 22nd

Classical music enthusiasts are in for a treat this week as pianist Mami Shikimori and Master Violinist Masayuki Kino return to Shetland to perform a programme of works, including Kreisler, Falla, Khachaturian and Wieniawski.
